Happy September!

As we begin September keep an eye out for more squash, apples and the return of spinach!

In season at the farmers’ market this week:

Spaghetti squash, strawberries, basil, garlic ,cucumbers, carrots, mixed greens, pansy flowers, chives, dill, zucchini ,fennel, green beans, paddy pans, corn , cherry tomatoes, apples, squash and more!

 Photo Contest

Calling all amateur photographers! This year we are holding a photo contest for the cover of our annual market calendar. The calendar is our way of sharing our love of local food with the community and the photo contest is a way for you to be a part of it! The complete rules and regulations can be found HERE! The winning photographer will have their photo featured as the cover of the calendar, as well they will receive a prize of cash and market gift certificates.

Cooking Classes:

Join us this week from 11-12 upstairs in the market kitchen for a free cooking class! We offer free, no registration cooking classes for the summer to offer an engaging learning environment. This is the last week for cooking classes this season! Come by and learn how to cook an easy meal with seasonal produce, all available at the farmers’ market! This week’s chef is Paul Paschink, Chef Paul Paschink is a red seal certified chef and is currently the junior sous- chef at the Four Points Sheraton. Paul has taught numerous cooking classes at the market, always creating a memorable meal! This week learn how to make acorn squash hummus and roasted beet, quinoa and kale salad!

Vendor of the Week:

Apple Meadow Organic Farm

Apple meadow Certified Organic is very pleased to be back for the fall season!   Looking forward to seeing all of our friends and customers.Plenty of Potatoes (Russets, yukons and fingerlings), beets (cylinder and round), delicious fennel, and carrots (yes the yaya’s are ready).Our wonderful fall spinach, several types of garlic and onions!  Best of all broccoli.  Come early for that as quantities are limited!  Oh yes…. don’t forget the kale in 3 different versions!  Wonderful for salads, juicing, or sauteing.

Library Program

Join us each Saturday from 1030-11 for family storytime!  Look for the colourful mats and join in for stories, songs, and rhymes with the children’s Library Staff!

Food Bank Donations

Every Saturday we collect fresh food donations for the London Food Bank. Donations can be dropped off in the bushel baskets under the clock tower. Any donation is appreciated!
